Yesterday was Aroldis Chapman and today is was Stephen Strasburg...
Wow unbelievable debuts. Strasburg as Karl Ravech said on "Baseball Tonight" was possibly the most hyped preseason debut since LeBron James. It probably wasn't quite as good as Chapman but man it sure was impressive. 2 innings pitched, 2 hits, 2 K's, 0 walks, 0 ER. That's a pretty good stat line for pretty much his professional debut. He flashed the nasty movement that he displayed at SDSU and the heat was in the high 90's. On pure stuff the guy is amazing, possibly all his pitches are in the "70-80" range and just filthy. Strasburg should start in the minors even though I bet he could start right away in the majors. But the development and postponing his clock will benefit the nationals in the long haul.
The Cuban defector Chapman, flashed is "80" fastball that touched 100. If he can control his obviously nasty stuff and continue to develop his secondary pitches he could actually start the season in Cincy's starting rotation. I personally wouldn't do it but hey if they wanna let dusty baker ruin ANOTHER promising pitcher.
Can't wait for baseball season to begin.
